Food

29 Apr

UPDATE: If you decide for whatever reason that you do want to spend time with us,  drop my name when you make your reservation so they know to seat you near our tables.

So because this is such an informal event and we aren’t making anyone but immediate family suffer through an extended wedding ceremony, we also aren’t having a rehearsal dinner. That said, we’d love to hang out with everyone who will be in town on Saturday night, May 30. We  have booked a bunch of tables at 7 p.m. for family at Boca Bistro, a tapas restaurant, on Broadway. Please feel free to make your own reservation and then table hop (read: steal someone’s seat). You can find Boca’s menu & information here:

http://www.bocabistro.com/

They also have a pretty good but small bar area, if you don’t want to commit to a table or a dinner.

Other restaurants include:

Max London’s

Mrs. London’s (breakfast)

Ravenous (crepes)

Sperry’s

Hattie’s (they will also be catering the party)

Locals, any other suggestions? Email me or leave suggestions in the comments.

You can check out our Google map for locations of bars and restaurants, hotels, etc.

Wedding party invites sent out

25 Jan

Invitations went out January 25. Please respond back by April 1 so we can get a good head count.

For those of you who are curious, we have dodged the Dave Matthews bullet but may still be up against the Phish bullet, or any other band the police decide may be an alcoholic menace to society.

Yes, I do wonder why they are allowing our party to occur as well.

A further update from Dain re: gifts–

So, we’re not exactly 25 anymore and we have plenty of kitchen and household items with the exception of a chip and dip. If you would like to contribute something you can help with our honeymoon registry here: http://www.travelersjoy.com/dainandeileen

Otherwise we’d just be happy to see you make it out to Saratoga and have a great time with us.

Hotel information

12 Jan

Hello, my two loyal readers. Here is hotel info for the wedding party, which will still hopefully be in the Orenda Pavilion at Saratoga Spa State Park on Sunday, May 31, starting at around noon (still working this part out).

Nothing is within walking distance of the party except arguably the Gideon Putnam, but we plan to have a shuttle bus picking people up somewhere downtown (Broadway is the main drag). My suggestion would be to stay somewhere on or near Broadway if you can swing it. Cabs are affordable and plentiful if you don’t want to drive once you are in town.

We got these prices by using TripAdvisor.com. Two tips/suggestions/unsolicited advice: Use private browsing so that they don’t raise the rates on you while you are searching or try your luck with airbnb or vrbo.com. If you cannot find anything you are happy with on the list, let me know & I will see what else I can find. Like I say, I would do this ASAP.

Big, Bold, Caveat: There is a REMOTE chance that Dave Matthews will decide to have his concert on the same day as the party and we would have to cancel, but we will not know for sure until March. I doubt that these hotels will charge you down payments but if they do, make sure you will be able to cancel and get your money back.

Dave Matthews Poops on Weddings, too

1 Dec

Welcome to the third inauguration of this website (thanks, graduate school!) and the first post of what will be an occasionally informative blog about Dain and Eileen’s wedding.

We are tentatively reserving a space at the Saratoga Spa State Park for May 31, 2015. That is, unless Dave Matthews decides that he wants to play on Sunday instead of Friday or Saturday, in which case I would like to remind the .03 people reading this website of this story.

Just saying.

Anyway, here is the link to the park. We will be in the Orenda Pavilion. Further bulletins as events warrant. http://www.nysparks.com/parks/saratogaspa
